What is massage therapy?
Massage therapy is a non-invasive form of health care that integrates manual techniques, active exercise programs, and patient education. Massage therapy provides assessment, treatment, and prevention of dysfunction, injury, pain, disorders of soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia), and joints.
I heard it was covered by MSP?
Yes, for BC residents who qualify for premium assistance (an income of $42,000 or less). MSP will cover $23 per visit to a Registered Massage Therapist up to a maximum of 10 visits per year.
Is it covered by my extended health plan?
Registered Massage Therapy is covered in full, or in part under MSP, ICBC, RCMP, DVA, WCB, and most extended medical plans. Please contact your employer or extended health provider to find out about your coverage.
